Now overseas in a place where any new trouble really could send oil prices soaring, the u.s. navy is making a statement to iran in a critical oil shipping lane, the strait of hormuz. jim miklaszewski is in those waters tonight, getting a chance to see life onboard a u.s. carrier, the "u.s.s. abram linco lincoln" where he got a closeup view of some potentially dangerous close encounters.

>> reporter: it was daybreak as the u.s. aircraft carrier abraham lincoln got under way, led by a mdestroyer and a missile cruiser, high-powered protection, the carriers run through the strait of hormuz. as expected, the iranian military came out for a look. an f-27 plane makes a leisurely prass. shortly after, the bridge on the lincoln crackled to life.

>> reporter: an iranian patrol boat was closing in fast. within two miles of the carrier, iranian boat finally backed off. lincoln's commander, captain john alexander says his biggest worry is that incidents like this could eventually lead to a fatal miscalculation.

Remembering Don Cornelius Creator of Soul Train Dead at 75 and my Tribute.

Generations of music lovers are mourning the death of "Soul Train" producer/host Don Cornelius, who was found dead in his L.A. home. Cornelius created the music and dance show that became a staple of African-American culture. "Soul Train" was a Saturday-morning must see. It also was the longest running first run nationally syndicated show in television history.

Long before MTV, VH1, and even BET there was Don Cornelius and Soul Train, consistently providing exposure on television for R&B and Soul artists who up until that time could only be seen on shows like the Ed Sullivan Show, American Bandstand and, once in a while, an NBC special (remember The Temptations and Supremes TCB?) Mr. Cornelius helped changed the landscape of Saturday morning television and influenced the entire American culture.

Soul Train was a staple for ALL YOUNG AMERICANS, and a part of American culture. We didn't watch sesame street, but we watched soul train, everyone I knew did, it was a part of growing up, the part we loved, ALL of us! If you liked music, boogie or not, we ALL got on the SOUL TRAin! So rest in peace, Mr. Cornelius, we ALL appreciate the CULTURE you let us ALL share.

I am truly saddened as well are many others by his passing.

I can remember I couldn't wait for Saturday mornings to come to watch Soul Train. This is when music was simple and fun. The music on Soul Train didn't have any special effects or the new mixers that they have now. It was straight up, down right buggie music and Don says the same thing...

Personally, I feel that MTV, VH1 and BET should run a Soul Train Marathon in honor of Don Cornelius. Those video channels just don't know how important he was to their very existence. American Bandstand was good... but it didn't groove nearly as hard as Soul Train did. It's a shame that not many people are talking about Don and the wonderful show that he brought to the world for over 35 years.

Rare excerpts from "The Frank McGee Sunday Report: Martin Luther King Profile," NBC News, May 7, 1967. The symbol behind Dr. King was used by the Chicago Freedom Movement, also known as the Chicago Open Housing Movement, which Dr. King helped lead from 1965-67. Under it was the slogan, coined by movement spokesperson Don Rose, "We're On the Move To End Slums."

In the interview, Dr. King talks with NBC correspondent Tom Petit about why he chose to "take a vigorous stand" against the U. S. government's undeclared war in Vietnam, for which he had received widespread criticism from the news media, civil-rights groups, religious and labor leaders and President Lyndon B. Johnson's administration.

"I cannot overlook the fact that I am a Negro," Dr. King tells Petit, "and that this war is doing a great deal to destroy the lives of thousands and thousands of my brothers and sisters. We are dying physically in disproportionate numbers in Vietnam. ... The other thing is that we are dying spiritually and psychologically in disproportionate numbers at home in the ghettos, and I think the war itself accounts for our spiritual and psychological death here at home."

This is how the struggles for civil rights at home and for peace abroad are "tied together."

Dr. King also answers the charge that the civil-rights movement is "dead" by explaining that it has entered a "new phase ... where we are seeking GENUINE equality, where we are dealing with hard economic and social issues" beyond integrating lunch counters and buses.

In an excerpt from a speech at Cleveland, Ohio, on April 28, 1967, Dr. King answers the critics of his peace stand by branding the Vietnam conflict as "an evil war." "And no matter where it leads," he declares, "no matter what abuses it may bring, I'm gonna tell the truth."

A year later, on March 10, 1968, "The Frank McGee Sunday Report," which had provided Dr. King with a fair platform to explain his views on the Vietnam war, broadcast an hour-long special report on the increasingly costly and divisive conflict.

In his summation, McGee, who was one of the first television network "stars" to publicly express doubts about the war, said: "The grand objective -- the building of a free nation [in South Vietnam] -- is not nearer, but further from realization. In short, the war, as the Administration has defined it, is being lost. ... Laying aside all other arguments, the time is at hand when we must decide whether it is futile to destroy Vietnam in the effort to save it" (Don Oberdorfer, "Tet! Turning Point in the Vietnam War" [Johns Hopkins, UP, 1971, 2001], pp. 272-73).

Three and a half weeks later, on April 4, 1968, Dr. King was assassinated at Memphis, Tenn.

Halloween is one of my favorite times of the year and this flavorful citrus fruit adds a dramatic ruby red color to recipes both sweet and savory for this night.

I think this is a great drink for Halloween because of the red color of blood. You can have fun decorating the drink with vampire teeth on the rim of the glass or an eyeball at the bottom of the glass.

Fact: Blood oranges are slightly less acidic than regular oranges. They contain 120 percent of the recommended daily amount of vitamin C, 12 percent of the amount of fiber, and also potassium, calcium, and vitamin A.

Kosher salt

Crushed ice

1/2 cup(s) fresh blood orange juice

2 ounce(s) tequila

1 ounce(s) triple sec or Cointreau

Blood orange wedges (optional), for garnish

Moisten rim of 2 margarita glasses and dip in kosher salt. Fill a cocktail shaker with crushed ice. Add orange juice, tequila, and triple sec. Shake well and strain into glasses. Garnish with orange wedges, if desired.

For people who had less means they have nothing in their 401K. But, this is not all that has been affected by this. Credit Cards, student loans and mortgages will increase because of this.

And who's fault was it?

They say it was S & A. S & A is short for Standards & Poor's. Standard & Poor's is a United States–based financial-services company. It is a division of the McGraw-Hill Companies that publishes financial research and analysis on stocks and bonds. It is well known for its stock-market indices, the US-based S&P 500, the Australian S&P/ASX 200, the Canadian S&P/TSX, the Italian S&P/MIB and India's S&P CNX Nifty.

The company headquarters is at 55 Water Street in New York City. Well S & A just made many Americans poorer. They are a company with about 1,225 employees who says what happens on Wall Street. This one company had this power to make such a drop on Wall Street just by talking and saying that our markets is bad.

This is a Black Monday as some would say, because it has not been this bad since December of 2008.

Now, how much will the Stock Market drop today?

Nurse Kimberly Hiatt had made a mistake and gave a baby named Kaia Zautner an overdose of medication. This happened on September 14, 2010. Kaia was only eight-month-old when this happened. She was a patient at Seattle Children’s Hospital.

After this had happened it was the end of the world as Nurse Kimberly Hiatt had know it. She was fired for the only mistake she had done in her 24 years of her medical career.

I can relate to this story because she was 50 years old when she committed suicide after accidentally giving a baby an fatal overdose of medication. She made a mistake of giving 1.4 grams of calcium chloride instead of 140 milligrams of the medication to baby Kaia.

I am 50 years old and if I had done this I would have ended my world too! I would not be able to live knowing I had killed a baby even if it was an accident.

On April 3, she was so devastated that all of this had happened to her that she committed suicide.

What made this worse for Nurse Hiatt is the parents did not pres any charges because they knew that their baby girl had had severe heart problems and she had been in and out of the Seattle Children’s Hospital since birth.

I am a mom of two and this would have ended the world for me if I had been told that my baby was killed by accident. I would have kept on going, but I would not have looked at the world the same after this had happened. The nurse had came attached to the baby and this is why she was devastated that this had happened.

Look at her in the photo, she looked like a very pleasant person to know. It's a shame she ended her life at a young age. Yes, I consider 50 to still be young. I'm hoping, I I'll be a 100!

To not ask them and seek your own answers would resign you to an existence of numbness and one day, possibly regret. But it doesn't have to be that way. It's never too late and there is no deadline.

The journey itself can be a tremendous reward. And don't be fooled! The pursuit of worthy goals and self-discovery is not easy. There will be plenty of tough times, inner soul searching, periods of enormous movement and change, periods of stagnation and possibly even despair. There will be times when you think you have found that groove you've always been looking for and then there will be times when you feel as though you haven't a hope in the world of finding your place. This is normal.

Everyone who experiences life will encounter variations of questions pertaining to their values that will challenge them at crossroads in life. Sometimes we heed these inner callings but often times, external forces to our sense of security in the world will push these inner callings deep into the mud. Instead we are fearful of change or to focused on the negatives or "what if" scenarios. So we play it safe and ignore our inner callings.

For others it may be prestige, recognition and yet someone else it is just the fact they get to "do what they love doing." Everyone will have a unique journey to reach their discovery. The journey will be made intentionally or unintentionally. It will be confused and painful or it can be enlightened by your own self-awareness. Don't get so focused on the goal that you don't get the full experience of the journey. The journey is so critical.

During the journey your experiences will offer you with so many valuable clues about yourself. Who you are. What makes you thrive. What puts you to sleep. The kind of people you like to work with. The environments you prefer. All of these experiences and many many more specific pieces relevant to you, your profession, passion, skills, and personality. All of them can be incorporated into your goal.

You, your life, your values, and beliefs, and many other things, will change. So keep dreaming, keep looking at the goal. But do so with the knowledge and understanding of your journey. Implement adjustments to your navigation system towards your goal if it changes. The experiences of your life and the decisions and their consequences will teach you so much. Allow yourself to take that journey, without knowing when it will end nor where it will take you. Get comfortable with not knowing. Keep seeking. Don't be afraid to take that next step. This is the very thing I too have to challenge myself on every day.

I for one loved Chelsea's showstopper performance. She was cute dressed up as a rag doll. I could not believe the judges didn't like it. But as she was told. It was to early in the show to do a dance like this so soon. To bad she was only 3rd runner up. I guess everyone said she is young and she should be good. But then she is not as famouse as Hines Or Kirstie.

I loved how Kirstie did her dance in week 8. She was right on point.

Now what can I say. Hine's did his thing on week 4. This was a smashing Paso Doble. And when he did his free style on week 10. It was even better!

WASHINGTON — Al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden is dead and the U.S. has his body, says a person familiar with developments.

President Barack Obama was to make the announcement shortly that after searching in vain for bin Laden since he disappeared in Afghanistan in late 2001, the Saudi-born extremist is dead, the source said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

Details of the death were sparse. He was killed in a military operation in Afghanistan, according to sources, though it was unclear which countries were involved. CNN reported that the al-Qaida leader was killed in a mansion outside Islamabad, the Pakistani capital.

It is a major accomplishment for Obama and his national security team, having fulfilled the goal once voiced by Obama's predecessor, George W. Bush, to bring to justice the mastermind of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

Carrie Dann writes: After an all-night negotiating session, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Thursday that he is “not nearly as optimistic” as he was last night about avoiding a government shutdown before a Friday deadline, saying of a federal funding gap: “it looks like it’s headed in that direction.”

The Democratic leader said that the two sides have essentially agreed on the amount of money set to be cut from the long-term budget but that Republicans have drawn a line in the sand over “ideology” – including policy issues dealing with funding for Planned Parenthood and the Environmental Protection Agency.

“Our differences are no longer over the savings we get on government spending, Reid said. “The only thing holding up an agreement is ideology.”

Reid’s comments came as the White House announced another meeting with congressional leaders scheduled for 1 pm ET. The government will shut down if an agreement is not reached by midnight on Friday.

House Republicans are lobbying for some “policy riders” – attachments to the budget bill – including ones that would defund the president’s health care plan, cut all federal funding to Planned Parenthood, and target EPA greenhouse gas rules.

Those riders, particularly those relating to abortion, have no place in a budget bill, an exasperated Reid argued.

“It’s not realistic to shut down the government on a debate dealing with abortion,” the Nevada lawmaker said. “It’s not realistic and it’s not fair to the American people.”

Reid also announced that the Senate cannot pass a one-week stopgap bill – including very deep cuts but continued funding for the Pentagon - that would delay a shutdown.

The House today will vote on that bill, which would fund the Department of Defense through the rest of the year, cut $12 billion in spending and prevent the District of Columbia from using city taxes for funding abortion for low income women.

On the Senate floor today, Reid called that one-week measure “a non-starter.”

But Republican Senate leader Mitch McConnell urged Democrats to agree to the proposal, saying that the stopgap measure is "well within the bounds of what their own leadership has defined as acceptable."

The alternative, McConnell said, is a shut down.

Elizabeth Taylor Film legend dies at 79. All my life I have grown up with Elizabeth taylor. This is a nother sad day to here that another icon has past away.

She died of congestive heart failure at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where she had been hospitalized for about six weeks. All her children were with her at her bed side when she past away.

Elizabeth had been married eight times. Twice to actor Richard Burton.

She also had a lifelong battle with substance abuse, physical ailments and overeating which made her popular in supermarket tabloids.

Elizabeth Taylor played in over 50 films, and won Oscars for her performances in "Butterfield 8" (1960) and "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" (1966), in which she starred opposite of Richard Burton.

In later in years, she was a spokeswoman for several causes, but mostly for AIDS research. Her work gained her a special Oscar, the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, in 1993.

Autopilot Income Machines Review

Is Autopilot Income Machines a scam or is it real? Well I decided to get past my normal skepticism and gave it a shot. Rasheed Ali and Huey Lee seem like pretty nice and straight forward guys, but like most people I’ve been fooled before. So I conducted a somewhat biased experiment to see if Autopilot Income Machines could really make me money online, leaving no stone unturned.

Before I get to what I did, let me give you the run down of what’s in the program so you can get a better idea about it. Basically the program is a pretty comprehensive video training course complete with transcripts for those who like to read over watch video. It takes you through the simple technical skills you need to learn (this is very fast by the way) and then shows you how to take what Rasheed and Huey call “money pages” and get them online and ready to make you money.

That’s all great and everything but SO WHAT – right? Not so fast! The Autopilot Income Machines program then shows you some pretty neat and completely safe, free traffic tactics to get you ranked on the first page of freakin’ Google! Okay, that is where I thought they were full of crap, BUT after I saw the evidence I had to basically shut up and do it for myself. The course also goes into some advanced strategies, gives you a free software that sets up some of your pages for you and some other cool stuff that NO sane internet guru gives away for less than $997.

Truth is, I think these guys got knocked in the head in one too many street fights. Oh, forgot to mention that Rasheed is a former homeless guy and Huey grew up in a low income family so they’re a little out of the ordinary if you know what I mean.

Anyway, let’s talk about my devious and biased experiment. You see, the first half of the program wasn’t new to me. I know that stuff already. The second half of the program was what I loved the most… besides the advanced stuff. (WOW!) So I decided that I’d set up my OWN money page and throw a wrench in the program to see what happens. I followed the free traffic strategies to the tee and in 24 hours my new money page was climbing the ranks of Google. I watched in amazement as my page started ranking for keywords and getting traffic and a few sales to boot over the days and weeks that followed!

My conclusion is pretty clear. Autopilot Income Machines isn’t the prettiest or shiniest program out there, BUT what it lacks in guru hype, it makes up for in PURE RESULTS! I absolutely and wholeheartedly recommend you pay close attention to every word Rasheed Ali and Huey Lee say. These guys deliver the goods and truly knocked it out of the park on this one! I give it my full 5 star rating. It’s a no brainer to put this into your money making arsenal. Most guys are just smoke and mirrors, but these guys are the REAL DEAL.

Reporter: But ceo paul talini fears the country is losing its competitive edge to asia. He blames high corporate taxes and and education system that's falling behind the rest of the world in math and science.

Reporter: So intel is investing $100 million a year on k through 12 education, another $100 million on co-rab rattive university research centers looking at the next generation of computing. If it will be a series of innovations, one of those may be happening right here at the r&d lab at a-123 where they're taking lithium battery technology to a whole new level. The company is now hiring thousands of employees at its new plants in michigan where it's building batteries for new electric vex and massive batteries to back up the nation's electric grid.

We can make the grid more stable by applying batteries that will last for a decade that will provide stability for the grid.

Reporter: A-123 is the brainchild of several professors at m.i.t. which has hundreds of active companies in the u.s.

Entrepreneurship is not our short comings. The short comings reside in the large firms who aren't able to stay with it.

Reporter: Too quick, says roberts, to ship jobs overseas taking advantage of business incentives and university educated workers. As for intel, it has 45,000 u.s. employees and it's spending billions on factory in arizona, new mexico and oregon.

President Obama said, there are very few moments in our lives where we have the privilege to witness history taking place. this is one of those moments. this is one of those times. the people of egypt have spoken. their voices have been hear. and egypt will never be the same. by stepping down, president mubarak responded to the egyptian peep's hunger for change. but this is not the end of egypt's transition. it's a beginning. i'm sure there will be difficult days ahead, and many questions remain unanswered. but i am confident that the people of egypt can find the answers and do so peacefully, constructively, and in the spirit of unity that has defined these last few weeks. for egyptians have made it clear that nothing less than genuine democracy will carry the day. the military has served patriotically and responsibly, as a caretaker to the state, and will now have to ensure a transition that is credible in the eyes of the egyptian people. that means protecting the rights of egypt's citizens, lifting the emergency law, revising the constitution and other laws to make this change irreversible and laying out a clear path to elections that are fair and free. above all, this transition must bring all of egypt's voices to the table for the spirit of peaceful protests and perseverance the egyptian people have shown can serve as a powerful wind at the back of this change. the united states will continue to be a friend and partner to egypt. we stand ready to provide whatever assistance is necessary and asked for, to pursue a credible transition to a democracy. i'm also confident that the same ingenuity and entrepreneurial spirit he young people of egypt have shown in recent days can be harnessed to create new opportunities, jobs and businesses that allow the extraordinary potential of this generation to take flight. and i know that a democratic egypt can advance its role responsible leadership, not only in the region but around the world. egypt has played a pivotal role in human history for over 6,000 years. but over the last few weeks, the wheel of history turned at a blinding pace, as the egyptian people demanded their universal rights. we saw mothers and fathers carrying their children on their shoulders to show them what true freedom might look like. we saw young egyptians say, for the first time in my life i really count, my voice is heard. even though i'm only one person, this is the way real democracy works. we saw protestors chant, we are peaceful, again and again. we saw military that would not fire bullets at the people they were sworn to protect. we saw doctors and nurses rushing into the streets to care for those who were wounded, volunteers checking protestors to ensure that they were unarmed. we saw people of faith praying together and chanting, muslims, christians, "we are one" and we know that the strains between faiths still divide too many in this world, no single event will close that chasm immediately, these scenes reminus that we he need not be defined by our differences. we can be defines by the common humanity that we share. and above all, we saw a new generation emerge. a generation that uses their own creativity and talent and technology to call for a government that epresented their hopes and not their fears. a government that is responsive to their boundless aspirations, one egyptian put it simply, most people have discovered in the last few days that they are worth something, and this cannot be taken away from them anymore. ever. this is the power of human dignity and it could never be denied. egyptians have inspired us and they've done so by putting the lie to the idea that justice is guest gained through violence. for egypt the moral force of nonviolence, not terrorism, not mindless killing, but nonviolence, moral force, that bent the arc of history towards justice one more. while sights and sounds we heard weren't entirely egyptian we can't help but hear the echoes of history, echos from germans tearing down a wall, indonesian students taking to the streets, gandhi leading his people down path of justice. as martin luther king said in celebrating a new bir of a nation in ghana, trying to perfect his own, there's something in the soul that cries out for freedom. those were the cries that came from tahrir square and the entire world has taken note. today belongs to the people of egypt and the american people are moved by these scenes in cairo and across egypt because of who we are as a people and the kind of world we want our children to grow up in. the word tahrir means liberation. it's a word that speaks to that something in our souls that cries out for freedom. forever more it will remind us of the egyptian people, of what they did, of the things that they stood for, and how they changed their country and in doing so changed the world. thank you.

When we're in the creative flow, we can sometimes forget we even have a body, because our minds are exploding with color, sounds, words and images. But when unhealthy habits sap your body of its vitality and strength, your creativity and productivity will be sapped as well.

What could be more frustrating than the interruption of your creative flow by an uninvited headache, back spasm, dullness of mind or the "shakes"?

I once heard the expression that as a guitar player, I'm a "small muscle athlete" – meaning I need to warm up those muscles and treat them well. Perhaps as artists we're ALL small muscle athletes. After all, we do need a good measure of physical endurance to get through our creative tasks.

Whether it's sitting hunched over an easel, the repetitive movements of playing a musical instrument, the stamina to stand and walk on stage throughout an entire show or sitting at a computer keyboard for most of the day, our creative tools all require the use of the body.

To keep that body strong and resilient takes daily attention.

Day-to-day self-care practices such as getting enough sleep, eating three healthy and balanced meals that are evenly timed throughout the day (plus healthy snacks if you need them), moving your body actively and drinking enough water are all essential for taking care of your body.

Taking care of the body also affects the mind. Fatigue, malnutrition, inactivity and dehydration will all have adverse effects on the mind and the ability to problem solve, concentrate and connect ideas.

The Creative Cycle and Self-Care

Touring with a band, rehearsing for a show or burning the midnight oil to finish a painting before a gallery opening, are all examples of extraordinary circumstances where we might relax our self-care discipline and adopt a whole new set of rules.

Then, when the show or tour is over or the piece is finished, we sometimes sink into an anti-climactic "low" or a period of transition before we get back into the creative flow again.

Skiles was supposed to ascend before the rest of the underwater crew. When they next looked at him, they found Skiles lying on the ocean floor. The crew brought Skiles up to the surface and rushed him to hospital. Skiles died and couldn’t be revived. July 22 – Kenny Guinn, 73, former Governor of Nevada, has died. Guinn was on the roof of his home, trying to make repairs, when he fell down. Guinn had a heart attack before he fell. July 20 – Carl Gordon, 78, actor, died on Tuesday, July 20. Gordon’s cause of death was due to lymphoma. Gordon passed away at home, in Jetersville, Virginia. July 23 – Daniel Schorr, 93, old timer reporter, died on Friday, July 23. Celebrity death – Kenyon Cotton, 36, ex running back for the Baltimore Ravens, died after suffering complications from surgery to repair a torn Achilles tendon. Cotton was discharged from outpatient surgery but returned to the hospital after he had respiratory problems. Doctors placed Cotton in a medically induced coma while they tried to discover the cause of his breathing problems. After he awakened from his coma, he suffered a series of strokes and was placed on life support. Kenyon Cotton is survived by two sons, 9 and 13 years old. July 23 2010 – Bill Cowher’s wife, Kaye Cowher, has died of cancer. Kaye Cowher’s cause of death was due to skin cancer. Kaye died on Friday, July 23, in North Carolina. Kaye was 54 when she died. Bill Cowher was the former head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Both Bill and Kaye lived in North Carolina after he retired from football coaching in 2007. Glassop died without seeing her granddaughter, Tiger Lily, 14, whose mother was the late Paula Yates. Glassop last saw Tiger Lily in April 2006. Phalen’s car then flipped over at the Auto Club Motor Speedway in Fontana. Phalen was rushed to hospital but she died there. Oct 16 2010 – Barbara Billingsley, 94, actress, died. Billingsley died of rheumatoid disease. Oct 17 2010 – Eyedea, or Michael Larsen, has died at the age of 28/ 29. Eyedea, one half of the music band Twin Cities, was found dead, on Oct 17. Oct 17 2010 – Danroy Henry, a student and footballer from Pace University, was killed after being fatally shot. Henry was in a bar brawl on Oct 17, 2010, when he was shot, allegedly by a police man. Henry was in a strip bar in Thornwood, New York. After Henry got into his car, he allegedly drove and hit three cops. Henry had two passengers, Brandon Cox, 20, and Desmond Hinds. Cox had a minor gunshot wound when the officers fired at the car. Danroy’s father, Mr Danroy Henry Sr, said he knew eye witnesses who told a different version of the event that resulted in his son’s death. Mr Henry Sr wants to know the truth on his son’s death. Johnny Sheffield, 79, former child actor who portrayed Boy in the Tarzan movies during the 1930s – 1940s, has died. Johnny Sheffield was 79 when he died. Sheffield left acting for a second career in real estate. Stuart Cable, a drummer with Stereophonics, died after he drank himself drunk for 3 days. Cable choked on his own vomit. Crippen was swimming in the 10 km race in the UAE. Crippen was swimming in the last leg of the FINA 10 km Marathon Swimming World Cup race, in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates, when he lost consciousness. Crippen told his coach after the 8 km mark that he was feeling unwell. When he failed to arrive at the finishing point after some swimmers did, they returned to the sea to search for him. They found Crippen in deep water. Fran Crippen was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. Three competitors were sent to hospital after the swim, after suffering from heat exhaustion. Oct 25 2010 – Gregory Isaacs, 59, reggae singer, died in London, UK. Isaacs’ death was due to liver cancer. Heavy winds toppled the tower and Sullivan fell to his death. Oct 28 2010 – James MacArthur, actor, 72, died of natural causes in Hawaii. MacArthur was best known as the actor who played Danno in Hawaii Five-O. Oct 29 2010 – James Wall, 92, actor, died on Wed, Oct 27. James Wall was best known for playing Captain Kangeroo’s neighbor, Mr Baxter. Takeshi Shudo, 61, writer for Pokemon, the fiction character, died. Shudo suffered a hemorrhage and collapsed at the Nara Station. Shudo was rushed to hospital and operated on immediately but he died. Shudo was also the creator of Minky Momo, another character. Harry Mulisch, 83, a Dutch writer from The Netherlands, died. Mulisch was the writer of The Assault and The Discovery of Heaven. Charlie O’Donnell, the presenter of the Wheel of Fortune, died at the age of 78. Shannon Tavarez, 11, actress, died after suffering from acute myeloid leukemia. Tavarez acted in Broadway, as Young Nala, in the play Lion King. Andy Irons, 32, world surfer champion, died in competition. Andy Irons was in the 9th of the series of 10 events when he fell sick, at the Rip Curl Pro Search Puerto Rico. The Rip Curl was the second last event in the 2010 ASP World Tour. Gossip said Andy Irons died of dengue fever. Irons is survived by his wife, Lyndie Dupuis. Lyndie is pregnant with Irons’ child. Police found prescription drugs like Ambien and Xanax in Andy Irons’ hotel room. He was found dead after he failed to answer a wake up call early in the morning. Andy set out from his home with a brave heart and little else. He had only about a hundred bucks in his shallow pocket. Jill Clayburgh, 66, an actress, died on Friday, Nov 5, 2010. Clayburgh had suffered from leukemia for the past 21 years. Ehud Netzer, 76, Israeli archaeologist, died on Oct 28. Netzer fell at the site of a dig and died later on. Nov 4, 2010 – Sparky Anderson, a great baseball manager who made it into the Hall of Fame, died on Thursday, Nov 4, 2010. George “Sparky” Anderson had suffered from dementia and was in a hospice before he passed away, from complications of dementia. Anderson died at the age of 76. Sparky Anderson is survived by his wife Carol Anderson, his sons Lee Anderson & Albert Anderson, and daughter Shirley Englebrecht. Sparky left behind 9 grandchildren. Nicastro is Steve Stark’s wife. Miriam Wosk, 63, an artist, has died. Donald S Kellermann, 83, director for Times Mirror Center ofr the People & the Press, died of liver cancer. Kellermann passed away on Tues, Nov 9, 2010. November 11, 2010 – Dino De Laurentiis, 91, Italian film producer, died. He is the grandfather of Giada de Laurentiis. Dave Niehaus, 75, a sports broadcaster, died from a heart attack. Niehaus worked for the Seattle Mariners to broadcast their games. He was a faithful Mariner fan from 1977 to 2010, when he finally retired. Nov 8, 2010 – Dr Richard J Bing, 101, died on Monday. Dr Bing was a research Cardiologist, a composer and author. Dr Bing died of heart disease. Polish music composer, died on Fri, Nov 12, 2010. Nov 14 2010 – Messy Mya, 22, YouTube comic, was murdered by a gunman. Mya is survived by his pregnant girlfriend and his male heir. Anthony Barre, aka Messy Mya, will be remembered in a memorial service, to be conducted later in this week. Nov 16 2010 – Ronni Chasen, 64, Hollywood publicist, died after being shot 5 times, while driving home in her car. Chasen died along the road of Sunset Boulevard, LA, Ca. Marie Osborne Yeats, 99, silent movie actress and movie studio costume supervisor, died Pat Burns, a former NHL coach, died after an illness with cancer. Pat Burns lost his fight with cancer on Fri, Nov 19, 2010. Rob Lytle, former football star player, died at 56 years old. Lytle, a former All American RB for Michigan, gained fame in 1978. He was a rookie who scored a goal for his team, the Denver Broncos, at the 1978 Super Bowl. Laurie Bembenek, 52, ex Milwaukee police cop and former Playboy Club model, died. Bembenek was once convicted for killing her then husband’s ex-wife, Christine Schultz. Bembenek, convicted and imprisoned after the verdict in 1982, managed to escape from prison. Bembenek has maintained her innocence right until her deathbed. She died after a struggle with cancer. Nov 21, 2010 – Norris Church Mailer, 61, the sixth and last wife of Norman Mailer, has died. Ms Mailer was an actress, model, painter and author. She died in Brooklyn, NY, on Sunday, November 21, 2010. Nov 28 2010 – Leslie Nielsen, 84, comedian actor, died of pneumonia. Leslie Nielsen was best known for his role as the doctor in “Airplane!”. Nielsen played funny characters in comedies like the Naked Gun series, where he was Detective Frank Drebin. Nielsen had been acting for 60 years. Nielsen died in a hospital in Florida. He passed away in his sleep at around 5:30 pm Sunday, Nov 28, 2010. His wife, Barbaree Earl Nielsen, and loved ones were at his bedside. Nov 30, 2010 – Irvin Kershner, film director, died Saturday, November 27, 2010. Irvin Kersher was famous for directing “The Empire Strikes Back”, part of the Star Wars movie chronology. Kersher died of lung cancer. Nov 29 2010 – Mario Monicelli, 95, director and screenwriter, committed suicide. Monicelli died after he jumped out of a hospital room window. Monicelli was warded in Rome, Italy, when he unexpectedly took a decision to end his life on Monday, Nov 29, 2010. Monicello suffered from health problems with his pancreas and his condition was terminal. Gil McDougald, 82, former New York Yankees baseball player, has died. McDougald’s cause of death was due to prostrate cancer. McDougald played for the Yankees for around 10 years in the 1950s and helped them win 5 World Series Championships. McDougald was honored when he was recognized as an All-Star infielder. Sir Maurice Wilkes, 97, one of the first and foremost to further the use of computing in Britain, has died. Sir Maurice Wilkes was nicknamed as the Father of British Computing. Jim Kelley, 61, hockey writer, died on Tuesday, Nov 30, 2010. Jim Kelley had been fighting cancer for more than a year. Kelley bravely carried on working until the day he died. Richard N Goldman, co-founder of Goldman Environmental Prize. Mr Goldman and his wife Rhonda Goldman started the prize in 1989. Goldman, a philanthropist, passed away at the age of 90. Bernard King, 72, retired rabbi, who had previously worked in Orange County, died. Mr King died at 72. Alfred “Al” Masini, producer of TV programs, has died. Al Masini was 80 when he died. Masini passed away in Honolulu, Hawaii. Masini was famous for creating Entertainment Tonight, Star Search, Lifestyles Of The Rich & Famous, Solid Gold & etc. Samuel T Cohen, 89, died. Cohen was the inventor of the neutron nuclear bomb. Cohen created a bomb that would destroy life forms but cause minimal damage to buildings and non-living forms. Cohen was suffering stomach cancer and had surgery prior to his death. Virginia Knight, 92, ex First Lady of California, died. Ms Knight was married to former Governor Goodwin Knight. Non-celebrity death but related to celebrity – Harold Smith, a suspect whom police wanted to question, killed himself when he was approached by police. Police believed Smith may have been involved in the murder of Ronni Chasen. Sri Daya Mata, 96, president of the Self-Realization Fellowship, has died. Sebastian Adler, 78, ex museum director, died. Ms Edwards, 61, passed away after fighting cancer for 6 years. Gus Mercurio, 82, actor who had roles in The Blue Lagoon and Crocodile Dundee, died. Alan Armer, 88, former producer turned University lecturer, died. Armer was the producer for The Untouchables and The Fugitive etc. John Leslie, aka John Nuzzo, has died. Leslie, 65, whose real name was Nuzzo, was an adult entertainment pornography actor. Leslie acted in more than 300 porn movies. He then became a director. Leslie’s cause of death was due to a heart attack. Dec 9 2010 – James Moody, 85, flutist and jazz saxophonist Moody died on Thur, Dec 9, 2010. Moody was suffering from pancreatic cancer before he passed away. Dec 9 2010 – John du Pont, 72, died in prison while serving his sentence for killing an Olympic wrestler, David Schultz, in Jan 1996. Du Pont was the heir to a fortune made from selling chemicals. Du Pont was found unresponsive in his prison cell. He was hospitalized but died shortly after. Semi-celebrity death – Sylvie Cachay, 33, fashion designer, found dead in bath tub. Police said Cachay was strangled. Cachay died in SoHo House Hotel. Her body was found on Thursday, Dec 9, 2010. Dec 11 2010 – Mark Madoff, 46, died of an apparent suicide by hanging. Madoff emailed his wife Stephanie, who was away in Disney Florida, asking her to send someone to check on their son, who was in the apartment in SoHo, NY. Stephanie asked her stepfather to visit the home and he found Mark hanging by a dog leash, in the living room. Mark was one of the two sons of Bernie Madoff. His father is currently in prison serving a 150 year jail sentence for his Ponzi style investment fraud. Mark and his brother Andrew were never criminally charged for swindling but he faced many lawsuits from investors who have accused him of profiteering form his father’s Ponzi scheme. Mark is survived by his parents Ruth Madoff and Bernie Madoff, his wife Stephanie, his son, 2 years old, and daughter, 4 years old. Stephanie is not using her married name of Mrs Madoff. She petitioned a court to have her last name changed, along with the last names of her two children. She claimed their lives were in danger because of threats from Bernie Madoff’s investors. Richard Holbrooke, 69, US diplomat and envoy, has died. Holbrooke collapsed and had emergency surgery to repair a tear in his aorta. He failed to recover from surgery done on Saturday, Dec 11, 2010, and died later on. Dec 12 2010 – Anne Hatch, 27, daughter of former Minnesota Attorney General Mike Hatch, has died. Ms Hatch allegedly committed suicide. She was found dead in her condo home on Sunday, Dec 12, 2010. J Michael Hagopian, 97, film maker, died on Friday, Dec 10, 2010. Hagopian made an educational documentary on the Armenian genocide survivors. Hagopian died in Thousand Oaks. His death was due to natural causes. Dick Hoerner, former Los Angeles Rams fullback, died at the age of 88. John A Ferraro, an actor/ director/ teacher at the USC, died at the age of 64. Tim Davlin, 53, was discovered dead on Tuesday, Dec 14, 2010. Davlin, the Mayor of Springfield, Illinois, committed suicide by shooting himself. Neva Patterson, 90, actress, has died. Patterson acted for 60 years and acted in around 100 movie and TV appearances. Dec 15, 2010 – Bob Feller, 92, Hall of Famer baseball pitcher, died. Feller was suffering from leukemia before he died. Dec 14, 2010 – Blake Edwards, 88, comedy director, died. Edwards passed away after suffering pneumonia. Edwards was married to Julie Andrews, the actress. Don Van Vliet, 69, 1960s rock musician known as Captain Beefheart, died. Vliet had suffered from multiple sclerosis. Samuel P King, US federal judge, died at 94 years old. Dec 10, 2010 – MacKenzie Mack Miller, horse trainer, died. Miller, 89, was a Hall of Famer trainer of thoroughbred horses. Miller’s cause of death was due to a stroke. Dec 20, 2010 – Steve Landesberg, 65, actor, died of cancer. Landesberg, famous for the movie “Forgetting Sarah Marshall”, died on Monday, Dec 20, 2010. Charles DeVoe, 28, a model, died in a surfing accident. DeVoe was better known as the model who was favored by Dolce & Gabbana, Vogue, Abercrombie & Fitch, and Mario Testino. DeVoe died while surfing in the Rockaway Peninsula, in New York. His ankle strap was caught in a pole and he drowned. Dec 20, 2010 – Magnolia Shorty, aka Renetta Lowe, 28, New Orleans rapper, died. Shorty was murdered with 26 gunshot wounds. Charles M “Chuck” Jordan, 83, ex vice-president at General Motors design department, has died. Jordan was once the chief car designer at GM. Fred Foy, 89, former radio and TV announcer, died. Bud Greenspan, a film maker who had a prolific career producing many movies, has died. Greenspan passed away at his home, in NYC, at the age of 84. Greenspan’s cause of death was related to Parkinson’s Disease. Dec 24, 2010 – John Warhola, Andy Warhol’s older brother, has died. Warhola died on Christmas Eve, Dec 24, 2010. Warhola passed away at the age of 85. Dec 26 2010 – Tina Marie, (or Tenna Marie/ Teena Marie, 54, has died. Ms Marie was a singer, songwriter and music producer. Marie was popular in the 1970s to 2000s. Marie specialized in R & B music. Her real name was Marie Christine Brockert. Marie’s daughter, Alia Rose, found her dead in the home. Marie had apparently died in her sleep. Teena Marie had suffered from grand mal seizure before her death. It was suspected that a seizure may have taken her life during her nap. It would be at least 6 weeks for more tests to bear results. Presently, the official opinion is that Ms Marie died of natural causes. Dec 27, 2010 – Alfred E Kahn, 93, former head of the airline deregulation body in 1978, has died. Kahn’s cause of death was due to cancer. Kahn made it possible for budget airlines to start cheap flights in the air travel industry.
